From Fuvahmulah to Addu, President Muizzu Sets Regional Agenda and Opens First MNDF Air Station

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has returned to the capital after concluding an official tour of the southern cities of Fuvahmulah and Addu, where he inaugurated a broad array of development and defence initiatives. The visit reflected his administration’s emphasis on regional growth and direct engagement with local communities.

The president’s itinerary included formal meetings with the Fuvahmulah and Addu City Councils, as well as the Women’s Development Committees in both locations. The sessions were intended to provide residents a platform to voice concerns and to clarify the government’s vision for the future of the two atolls, according to a statement from the President’s Office.

That vision was underscored by the commencement of practical work on numerous projects across critical sectors. In Fuvahmulah City, President Muizzu launched initiatives in education, health, housing, and transportation, areas identified as essential to improving daily life and sustaining long‑term growth.

The scope expanded in Addu. In Addu City, and in Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo of Addu Atoll, projects were initiated in sports and fitness, education, health, urban development, religious unity, and transportation.

The tour also carried a significant national security dimension. President Muizzu inaugurated the first Air Station of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Air Corps, marking a milestone in the country’s defence infrastructure.

He was accompanied by a high‑level delegation that included several ministers and senior officials from across government institutions, underscoring the administration’s commitment to the initiatives announced during the tour.
