First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has affirmed that the Maldivian people, throughout history, have continuously developed and progressed in line with global changes.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Maldives Polytechnic Open Day, Skill Fest - to mark the institution’s 50th anniversary, the First Lady expressed confidence that all young people would utilise the opportunity for skills development.
She paid tribute to the nation’s history of innovation, noting the profound skills of older generations, especially evident in their masonry and carpentry work. The First Lady stressed that previous generations were highly capable, particularly noting that productivity of Maldivians for a nation surrounded by the ocean.
"The previous generations of Maldivians rose up to meet every change that came. They equaled that change," she remarked, emphasising the historical ability of the Maldivian people to adapt.
Concluding her address, First Lady Sajidha acknowledged the Maldives Polytechnic’s five decades of contribution to nation-building, stressing that a country can only be successfully built through innovative ideas and productivity.
She extended her sincere gratitude to all staff, both past and present who have contributed to the institution's success.
