Authorities on Sunday urged seafarers to be cautious as severe weather conditions continued to affect most parts of the country.
Maldives Metrological Service forecast heavy rain and thunderstorms with gusts of 45 miles per hour in the central and northern atolls.
Fairly widespread rain with a few heavy showers and thunderstorm are expected over the country, it said.
The Met Office said surface winds will vary between south-west to westerly 5 to 15 miles per hour in southern atolls and west to north-westerly 13 to 23 miles per hour elsewhere.
Seas are expected to be moderate in the south and generally rough elsewhere, it added.
