Ministry of Gender and Family on Saturday said over 71 senior citizens have undergone health screening in Baa Atoll under its Ranveylaa campaign.
Awareness sessions and a health screening programme were conducted in 4 islands of Baa Atoll under the campaign which is aimed at increasing the participation of elderly persons within family and community, enhance care and assistance provided to them, and improve their health and emotional well-being.
The health screening programme was conducted by the Ministry in collaboration with Baa Atoll Hospital.
47 senior citizens in Eydhafushi Island, 10 in Dharavandhoo Island, 8 in Dhonfanu Island, and 12 in Maalhos Island were screened under the programme, the Ministry said.
The Ranveylaa campaign also features awareness sessions for social workers, medical officers and youth.
The Gender Ministry said that the campaign focuses on three thematic areas: Participation, Caring and Well-being to promote issues related to elderly persons.
