MTCC assigned GDh. Madaveli coastal protection project

Environment Ministry on Thursday assigned Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) to build coastal protection structures in Madaveli Island, Gaaf Dhaalu Atoll.

The project contract was signed by Minister of Environment and Energy, Thoriq Ibrahim and Chief Executive Officer of MTCC, Ibrahim Ziyath.

According to the Ministry, the purpose of this project is to nourish, protect and prevent the areas of the island vulnerable to erosion from further deterioration.

The MVR13.5 million project includes the construction of a 454.5-meter revetment wall along the areas severely affected by erosion.

The project, which is the fifth government funded coastal protection project to commence this year, is expected to be completed within 150 days.
