Vice President addresses ICBOS leaders summit

Vice President Abdulla Jihad on Tuesday addressed the participants of the Leaders’ Summit of the International Conference on Blue Ocean Strategy held in Putrajaya, Malaysia.

During the speech, the Vice President complimented the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Najib Razak and expressed the importance of Blue Ocean Strategy for a nation to overcome challenges in competitive markets by putting innovation at the heart of national development.

The Vice President also expressed his concurrence with the theme for the Leaders’ Summit, “Future Government: Meeting Tomorrow’s Needs and Expectations”, to achieve sustainable development and economic growth and explained the Maldivian Government’s manifesto for development by stating:

The Vice President also highlighted the milestones of Maldives while implementing bold strategies which include; implementation of policies for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises in low cost and low risk business areas, introduction of an income based insurance programme for fishermen; and, opening of opportunities for Large and Mega Projects, with Government concessions, among others.

The Conference brings together experts from around the world to explore novel and creative methods of implementing national plans and policies in an increasingly challenging global economic environment. The idea of Blue Ocean Strategy focuses on value innovation in production coupled with lower costs as a means to boost economic growth.
