A vital public awareness programme aimed at promoting healthy food consumption has successfully concluded its outreach efforts across three northern Atolls, reaching over 100 individuals.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Maldives Agribusiness Programme (MAP), focused on educating rural communities in Haa Alifu, Haa Dhaalu and Shaviyani Atolls about the critical role of nutritious food in daily diets.
Running from 19 to 24 September, the programme specifically targeted residents, with a particular emphasis on farmers, to highlight the benefits of incorporating locally sourced and home-grown produce into their meals.
The programme commenced in Haa Alifu Atoll on 19 September, with a session in Molhadhoo drawing nine participants. The following days saw increased engagement, with 31 individuals attending sessions held in Ihavandhoo and Nolhivaranfaru, and another 31 participants in Kudhahuvadhoo on 22 September.
The initiative culminated with a large-scale event in Goidhoo on 23 and 24 September, which attracted over dozens more and underscored the significant community interest in adopting healthier dietary practices.
The sessions, which included engaging practical cooking demonstrations, were conducted by experienced local dietitians under a project contract.
