Mishra assures India’s assistance to Maldives

Vice President Abdulla Jihad on Monday met Akilesh Mishra, the Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives.

During the meeting held at the President’s Office, the Vice President thanked the Indian Government for their continued support, especially during some of the Maldives most challenging times, and discussed areas in which the bilateral relationships could be further strengthened.

Characterising the long standing relationship between the close neighbours as unique, the Indian High Commissioner assured the Vice President that India would continue to assist the Maldives whenever required.

The Vice President was accompanied at the meeting by the Under Secretary at the President’s Office, Mohamed Naseer and Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Farzana Zahir.
