Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) conducted a leadership training programme for secondary students of Alif Dhaal Atoll Education Centre.
A function held Saturday, to commemorate the end of the programme, was officiated by Adam Shareef Umar, Minister of Defence and National Security.
According to MNDF, a total of 88 students from grades 8 to 12 completed the leadership training programme.
Addressing the students at the function, the Defense Minister spoke about the role of young people in nation building.
He also highlighted the roles and responsibilities of the national defense force, in protecting the nation’s sovereignty and independence.

Major General Ahmed Shiyam, Chief of Defense Forces, also spoke to the students at the function.
MNDF revealed that similar programmes would be held for students of other schools in the future, in addition to awareness programmes on fire and maritime safety.
