Parliament accepts amendment bill to General Law on Elections

Parliament on Tuesday accepted for consideration an amendment bill to the General Law on Elections.

The bill, tabled by Kudahuvadhoo MP Ahmed Amir, was accepted with 55 votes in favour, 17 against, and 2 abstentions.

The Bill was sent to the Committee on National Security for review.

16 members spoke on the bill during the time allocated for debate.

The First Reading of the Bill was held on 18 July 2016.
