Australian visitor numbers on the rise

Australian tour operators say the popularity of Maldives amongst Australian tourists has been increasing.

Club Med Australia, the all-inclusive tour operator, has reported a 17% increase in bookings this year compared with 2015 and Maldives is one of the operator’s fastest growing destinations.

According to the tour operator, the Maldives is becoming a new hotspot for Australians this year as it becomes more popular with families and surfers attracted to the world class reef breaks across the country.

Club Med operates two resorts in the Maldives.

The Tourism Ministry’s statistics show more than 9,500 Australian tourists visited the Maldives in the first 5 months of 2016, a 21% increase compared to the same period last year.
