Maldives Vies for Two Top Honours at Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards

The Maldives has been nominated for two top honours at the Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards 2025, organised by the UK’s most widely circulated and longest-running travel magazine.

This year, the Maldives is shortlisted for:
- Most Desirable Country – Worldwide
- Most Desirable Island(s) – Worldwide

The Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards are among the most respected accolades in the global travel industry, with winners chosen entirely by public vote.

In 2024, Sri Lanka took home the title of Most Desirable Country – Worldwide, showing the strong presence South Asian destinations hold in the hearts of UK travellers.

Wanderlust, established in 1993, has become the UK’s leading voice for meaningful, responsible, and inspiring travel. The awards reflect the real opinions and experiences of seasoned travellers who vote for the places that have captured their imagination.

Voting is open until 17 October 2025, and Visit Maldives has invited everyone to support the Maldives in both categories.

The UK is now the third largest tourist source market for the Maldives with more than 114,000 tourists holidaying in the Maldives by 13 July.
