Housing Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on Sunday condemned attempts to misinform the public about the Government’s developmental projects.
Dr. Muizzu described the spread of false information as “deliberate” attempts to mislead the public and instil hatred.
He accused some parties of spreading misleading information about the Government’s social and infrastructure development projects, with the aim of diminishing public trust in the Government.
He said such attempts to spread misinformation about the Government’s projects lack sound technical information and expert opinion.
Citing such information spread about the Rasfannu Artificial Beach, Dr. Muizzu described the project as a “successful” effort under the Government’s wider plan to address social issues.
He also dismissed reports about the low standard of the project, and explained technical details, including the existence of a storm drainage system.
He said the beach was designed in a way to control flooding and tidal surges.
The Housing Minister further stressed that all government projects are undertaken after rigorous research and studies.
He also said the Government will always welcome constructive criticism from the public.
