National UroRenal and Fertility Centre to be opened in October

Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) on Saturday said a National UroRenal and Fertility Centre will be opened by October.

The Health Ministry signed with India’s NU Hospital to establish a National UroRenal and Fertility Centre in May 2016.

Farhath Shaheer, Chief Executive Officer of IGMH, told PSM News that work on the project is now underway.

The centre would be established at IGMH, and the hospital would provide all infrastructure required to operate the facility.

Specialised doctors, technical staff, in addition to equipment and technical resources would be provided by NU Hospital.

Farhath Shaheer said the agreement paves way to provide treatment for chronic urorenal conditions in addition to tests and services related to fertility.

The agreement with NU Hospital also included the training of nurses and other healthcare staff for a period of 15 years.

Under the agreement, the Government would spend MVR2.5 million on the project, while NU Hospital will contribute MVR6 million.
