President Muizzu Appeals for Islamic Unity on Palestine in New Year Greeting

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu marked the arrival of the Islamic New Year 1447 by urging Islamic nations to deepen their solidarity with the Palestinian people and extended greetings to Muslim leaders around the world.

Offering best wishes on behalf of the Maldivian government and citizens, President Muizzu expressed hope for a year of peace and prosperity. His message reflected a broader appeal for divine blessings and guidance across Muslim-majority nations, an invocation of shared spiritual purpose.

The president reiterated the Maldives' enduring commitment to the Palestinian cause, urging Muslim countries to intensify collective efforts to ease the hardships faced by Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza. Compassion and resolve, he said, must guide those actions, according to a statement by the President's Office. He reaffirmed Maldives' support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Closing his message, President Muizzu extended prayers for justice and relief for oppressed Muslim communities worldwide and voiced hope for a year shaped by resilience and common resolve.
