Boat captain & crew training mandatory, says Economic Ministry

Economic Ministry on Tuesday said it would be mandatory for crew members and captains of vessels to obtain special trainings to work on vessels from January 2017.

The Ministry has also licensed three institutions to conduct mandatory training programmes for crew and captains of vessels.

The licensed institutions are Maldives National University (MNU) Centre for Maritime Studies, Maritime Academy of Maldives, and International Maritime and Management.

According to the Ministry, the institutions would also conduct the maritime training programmes in the atolls.
