Patients seeking treatment from Cardiac Centre increasing: IGMH

Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) on Saturday said the number of patients seeking treatment from the National Cardiac Centre is increasing.

A National Cardiac Centre and Cath Lab was opened in IGMH on July 1. Since its establishment, the centre has conducted procedures on 40 patients, including angiograms and angioplasty services.

Chief Executive Officer of IGMH Farhath Shaheer told PSM News that the number of patients seeking treatment for heart and cardiovascular diseases from IGMH has risen with the establishment of the Cardiac Centre.

He further revealed plans to introduce other treatments for heart and cardiovascular diseases in the near future.

Senior Consultant in Cardiology at IGMH Dr. Ali Shafeeq said the new centre has gained the trust of the public over the past three weeks, with a rise in the number of patients seeking medical attention at the centre.

According to IGMH, the Cardiac Centre will conduct procedures on 16 patients Saturday, with another 10 set to undergo surgery Sunday (July 24).

Statistics show that 30 patients are diagnosed with heart and cardiovascular diseases every week, with another 10 treated weekly for strokes and heart attacks.
