President meets outgoing Japanese Ambassador

Japanese Ambassador to the Maldives Kenichi Suganuma on Thursday paid a farewell call on President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

During the call held at the President’s Office, President Yameen expressed sincere gratitude for the assistance and continued support provided by the Government of Japan for the economic and social development of Maldives. The President expressed confidence that the close friendly relations between the two countries would continue to grow in the years ahead and the Government of Maldives would continue to receive the same level of support, engagement and assistance from Japan in the future. The President also thanked the Ambassador for the support provided to the Government and the people of Maldives during the Ambassador’s tenure.

The Ambassador expressed appreciation for the cooperation extended by the Government of Maldives and expressed his confidence that the same level of cooperation would be provided to his successor. The Ambassador also conveyed best wishes to the President and the Government of Maldives for the years ahead.

The President was accompanied at the farewell call by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Asim, Foreign Secretary Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed and Under Secretary at the President’s Office Mohamed Naseer.
