Bank of Maldives Plc, in partnership with the Cancer Society of Maldives (CSM), on Monday decided to hold breast cancer screenings for its staff. The programme, which is to be held at the BML Head Office, is supported by the Ali Fulhu Thuthu Foundation, AFT.
Under the programme, BML staff and their spouses would be examined by a team of doctors over the course of the next 2 days. The screening involves a clinical examination by a doctor, and, if needed, ultrasound scans. Information sessions highlighting the importance of self-examination and early detection will be conducted by CSM’s team of experts, the organisers said.
This is the first in a monthly series of free cancer screenings that CSM would hold in partnership with large organisations across the country, it said.
People and Change Director of BML Sahar Waheed commended the initiative taken by CSM and said that the Bank was grateful to be the first organisation to commence the cancer screening programme. She added that Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in the Maldives, and highlighted the importance of early detection.
