Maldives Attends PATA’s AGM, Summit

Maldives has participated in the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Annual General Meeting and Annual Summit.

Maldives was represented by Deputy Minister of Tourism of Environment, Meenas Shaugy and Director, Tourism Research and Statistics, Mariyam Sharmeela at the Annual General Meeting and the PATA Annual Summit held from Apr 21–23 in Istanbul, Turkey.

According to the Ministry, These sessions brought together global tourism experts to discuss sustainability, innovation, inclusion, and data-driven strategies to enhance tourism demand and visitor experience.

The participation of the Maldives in such gatherings is significant for the tourism industry, it said, adding that the information and experience gained from such meetings will be used to further develop tourism in the island nation.

Under the theme “Timeless Wisdom for a Sustainable Future,” this year’s PATA Annual Summit explored how enduring cultural insights and sustainable practices can shape the future of tourism.
