The Imam of Masjid al Nabawi, Sheikh Dr Salah al Budair has concluded his official visit to the Maldives.
The Imam of the Prophet’s Mosque arrived in the Maldives last Monday at the invitation of the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed. The invitation was extended in alignment with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s directive to host prominent Islamic personalities in the Maldives.
During the visit, the Imam paid a courtesy call on President Muizzu. He also met with Islamic Minister Dr Shaheem. A special session was held with the Supreme Council for Islamic Fatwa, during which they discussed enhancing the processes and practices involved in issuing religious rulings (fatwas).
In addition, Sheikh Al Budair visited the historic Friday Mosque in Male’ and also spent time engaging with local children from preschools. He met with young Imams and Khathibs, as well as religious scholars of the Maldives. He also held a meeting with Quran students enrolled at the Centre for Holy Quran as well as private institutions.
Additionally, the Imam led Maqrib and Isha congregation at the King Salman Mosque on Wednesday, and Isha prayers at the Islamic Centre on Thursday. Following the prayer at the Islamic Centre, he delivered a special sermon to attendants. He also led the Friday prayers at the Islamic Centre.
During his visit, Sheikh al Budair also met with the first local scholar to graduate from the Islamic University of Medina, Sheikh Ismail Mohamed. He also met with students from the Islamic University of Maldives.
