Dharavandhoo Island Council has announced fees for garbage collection and disposal.
According to the council, it will charge a monthly fee of MVR150 per household and MVR50 for vacant properties.
The council said it is now working to draw up a waste disposal agreement, acquire a vehicle, and train staff.
The island’s household waste collection and disposal service is part of the regional waste management project being carried out in Noonu, Raa, Baa, and Lhaviyani atolls.
