Environment Ministry on Thursday assigned a contractor to the coastal protection project of Gahdhoo Island, Gaaf Dhaal Atoll.
The Ministry contracted the MVR18 million project to Heavy-Force Pvt Ltd. The contract agreement was signed by Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim and Managing Director of Heavy-Force Pvt Ltd Ibrahim Zameer.
Speaking after signing the agreement, Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim highlighted coastal erosion issues faced by many islands across the country.
The project in Gahdhoo will see the establishment of a 970 meter protection wall on the south-western side of the island.
