Government has made all necessary arrangements to ensure a seamless start to the new academic year, Minister of Education Dr Ismail Shafeeu assured Sunday.
As students across the country return to school on Monday, Minister Dr Shafeeu said similar to last year, the government had made all arrangements to be ready for the start of the new academic year.
In an interview with PSM News, the Minister underscored the Ministry's dedication to facilitating an efficient transition into the academic year which includes school renovations and comprehensive resource allocations such as sufficient books and teachers for schools throughout the country.
"I want to say that the books have been distributed more efficiently compared to previous years. However, a dozen requests came today to switch schools. If so, those students may not have all the books after the admission process is completed. But we plan to send out the books to the respective schools once the placements are confirmed,” he explained.
Minister Dr Shafeeu urged parents, teachers and the society as a whole to work together to ensure the best possible learning environment for students.
Recent administrative revisions to the academic calendar set the new academic year to commence on 7 April. According to the Ministry of Education's calendar, the first-term holiday is scheduled to begin on 24 July, followed by the start of the second term on 10 August. The academic year will then conclude on 28 December.
