President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has assured that special attention will be given to development projects that promote a healthy lifestyle.
Speaking during the second episode of the 'Rayyithunnaa Eku' podcast hosted by the President’s Office, the President addressed several concerns raised by the public, particularly from senior citizens who had complained about development projects, such as land reclamation, which had removed the natural beaches and coastline of their islands.
In response, the President revealed that the Administration’s ongoing projects would include dedicated areas for local beachgoers.
He also announced that the Government would build outdoor gyms and children’s parks on all inhabited islands by the end of next year. He believes these initiatives will promote physical and mental wellbeing and strengthen family bonds.
The President stated that parks would be developed on every inhabited island and restoration efforts for damaged parks in Malé City would be carried out. He detailed that this would include the development of Sultan Park as a park focused on activities for the adventurous and with greater mobility for park goers.
The President emphasised that while the Administration prioritises the development of healthcare through a comprehensive system, it would also pay special attention to the well-being and promoting a healthy lifestyle among its people.
The President prioritises listening to the people, fostering closer connections with them, and governing through active public consultations. To achieve this, initiatives such as the ‘Rayyithunge Adu’ portal and platforms like the ‘Ahaa Forum’ have been launched. Additionally, the President’s direct visits to inhabited islands across the nation allow him to interact with the people and their representatives, listen to their concerns, check on their wellbeing, and work towards formulating policies that encapsulate their voices.
