The water and sewerage project in Keyodhoo, Vaavu Atoll, has reached completion.
The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure said the water project included the installation of two 45-tonne Reverse Osmosis plants, two 345-tonne drinking water storage tanks, and a 960-tonne rainwater storage tank.
For the sewerage system, three pumping stations, a 4.3-kilometre water network and a 3.9-kilometer sewerage network have been established. Additionally, 27-kilowatt solar panels have also been installed as part of the project.
Funded by the state, the Keyodhoo water and sewerage system project, contracted to SAS e Construction Private Limited, commenced in 2023.
The Ministry of Construction said the water and sewerage system has now been fully installed in Keyodhoo and handed over to the operator. The service is now being provided free of charge as part of a system testing phase.
Earlier this month, the water and sewerage of Felidhoo, Vaavu Atoll was also completed. Last month, similar projects reached completion in Fares Mathoda of Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, Isdhoo of Laamu Atoll and Gan of the same atoll.
