Gov’t Instructs Anchored, Moored Vessels to be Manned

The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has mandated marine vessels to maintain an adequate number of crew members on board when vessels are anchored or moored at a dock.

The ministry said the decision was taken after several incidents have occurred due to anchored and moored vessels left unattended without any crew on board resulting in damages to property.

If the vessel does not have the required number of crew members to maintain the vessel, action will be taken against the owner of the vessel for safety violations, the Ministry warned.
