Maldives Parliament Endorses Non-Resident Envoys to Russia, Morocco

Parliament on Monday endorsed President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s non-resident Ambassador nominations to Russia and Morocco.

Lt. General (Retd) Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef has been nominated as the non-resident Ambassador to Russia. Currently, he serves as the Maldives' Ambassador to Türkiye. Additionally, President Dr Muizzu proposed the appointment of Ahmed Sareer as the non-resident Ambassador to Morocco. Sareer currently holds the position of Maldives’ Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.

The Parliament during Monday’s sitting unanimously endorsed the two nominations.

President Dr Muizzu, meanwhile has nominated the non-resident Ambassador to the Philippines and forwarded the nomination for Parliament endorsement.

The President nominated Maldives’ resident High Commissioner to Malaysia Dr Mariyam Shabeena as the non-resident Ambassador to the Philippines.

Her nomination was forwarded to the Parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee during Monday’s sitting for review.
