President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has appointed new officials to lead the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and the Elections Commission of the Maldives (ECM).
The President appointed Abdulla Nashid as ACC’s Vice President, in accordance with Section 7 of the Anti-Corruption Act, following his nomination by the President and subsequent approval by the Parliaments. Abdulla Nashid, who was appointed as an ACC member in January this year, previously held key positions in the commission from 2011 to 2015.
Meanwhile, the President appointed Mohamed Zahid as the President of ECM and Abdul Rahman Salah Rasheed as its Vice President. Their appointments were under Section 7 of the Elections Commission Act. Both Zahid and Rasheed were appointed as members of the Elections Commission on 26 January this year.
