Wednesday declared Eid al-Fitr

Islamic Affairs Ministry has declared Tuesday as the 30th day of Ramadan and Wednesday (July 6) as Eid al-Fitr.

It was announced tonight by a special committee set up to determine and declare the time-honoured sighting of the crescent moon of Shawwal which marks the end of Ramadan and the start of Eid al-Fitr. 

The crescent moon of Shawwal was not sighted in any part of the country or any other Islamic country, a declaration issued by the  committee read.
