The Maldives Hajj Corporation Limited has decided to compile a register of health workers to provide health assistance to pilgrims during Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages. The Hajj Corporation has now opened the opportunity to register for upcoming Umrahs and Hajjs for interested doctors and nurses.
The Hajj Corporation further said that after the register is compiled, the health assistants will be selected from among those registered in the register for pilgrimages.
Doctors included in the register of health workers:
- Medical Officer
- General Practitioners
- Physicians
- Cardiology
- Nephrology
- Neurology
The responsibilities of the nurses and doctors that travel with the pilgrims include assessing the health conditions of the pilgrims and treating the sick. Nurses also expected to work in accordance with doctors' instructions in caring for patients.
Meanwhile, it is also the responsibility of doctors to take the pilgrims to hospitals for health reasons while in Mecca and Medina. It is also the responsibility of the doctors and nurses to assist the Hajj Corporation in making all medical arrangements during the journey and other relevant matters encountered during the journey.
The Hajj Corporation said that preference will be given to those who are fluent in Arabic or Urdu and have experience in Hajj and Umrah.
