President Muizzu Pledges Digital Revolution to Enhance Transparency and Eradicate Corruption

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the digital revolution of the 21st century will enhance transparency in government policies and aid in eradicating corruption. He made these remarks during his second Presidential Address at the opening session of the 2025 Parliament.

In his address, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu highlighted that the Cabinet had deliberated and made key decisions to revolutionise the ICT sector. These initiatives include enhancing government technology governance, introducing digital identity cards, establishing a data-sharing platform, and strengthening cybersecurity. He also noted that his recent visit to Estonia was a significant step forward.

The President affirmed the government's commitment to increasing the ICT sector's contribution to 15 percent of the country's manufacturing standards by 2030 while extending the benefits of the digital economy to Maldivians.

The President further highlighted that the development of the digital sector would improve efficiency and ensure individual security, allowing people timely access to their complete records while safeguarding against unauthorised access or modifications. He added that the digitisation framework would be uniformly implemented across all state institutions. The President expressed his vision to integrate reliable and modern advancements into every state institution and into the lives of Maldivians, promoting progress and innovation across various sectors.

During the address, the President affirmed his commitment to successfully implementing the digitisation project during his tenure, with the support of the government, public servants, and all Maldivians.
