Maldives to Execute over 1,000 Infrastructure Projects This Year

The government has planned to carry out over 1,000 developmental projects throughout the country, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu revealed Thursday.

The President, in his Presidential Address to inaugurate the Parliament for the year shared his Administration’s plans for infrastructure development during the year.

According to the President, many projects had been stalled when he took office while several projects had been contracted without any budget or plan to coincide with elections.

So as the first order of business, this Administration had to come up with a way to kickstart stalled projects and complete ongoing projects, he added.

President Muizzu said the people will see multiple projects to develop water and sewerage, school buildings, health centers and sports facilities launched between January and March. The President assured that more than 1,000 such projects will be implemented in different parts of the country this year.

“A wide array of projects, which will include stalled projects, ongoing projects and new projects making it a total of 1,043 projects will be implemented across the country this year,” he announced.

The delay in project implementation has been the biggest concern of the people especially during the President’s visit to the islands.

The announcement by the President will come as a major relief for the people waiting to see the mobilisation of stalled developmental projects.
