Hundreds of protesters took to to the streets of Istanbul on Friday in a show of support for Palestinians on International Al Quds Day, an annual day of protest against Israel's occupation of Palestine and its annexation of Jerusalem.
Protesters marched in the streets of Istanbul waving Palestinian flags and chanting slogans. They also burned an American and an Israeli flag.
The protesters used the event to denounce the Turkish government's latest moves towards normalizing ties with Israel after a six-year rupture. The deal announced last week, was driven by the prospect of lucrative Mediterranean gas deals as well as mutual fears over growing security risks in the region.
