Maldives and India Hold First High-Level Core Group Meeting on Economic and Maritime Security

The Maldives and India convened the first meeting of the High-Level Core Group (HLCG) in Male’ to advance the implementation of ‘A Vision for Comprehensive Economic and Maritime Security Partnership’, with discussions centering on bilateral cooperation, including development, trade, digital finance, health, and defense.

During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, both sides reviewed the bilateral cooperation between the two countries, on areas outlined in the vision document set forth by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi following their meeting in October last year.

The discussions focused on a wide range of issues, including development cooperation, trade and commerce, digital financing, health cooperation, people to people linkages, defence and maritime security cooperation.

The second meeting of the High-Level Core Group will be held in India in April 2025.
