Maldives, Saudi Arabia Forge Closer Ties Through Strategic Immigration Talks

The Maldives and Saudi Arabia have addressed key topics such as information exchange, intelligence sharing, capacity building, and training within the immigration sector during a series of high-level discussions. These talks took place during the visit of Mohamed Shamaan Waheed, the Maldives' Controller General of Immigration, to Saudi Arabia.

Currently in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, at the invitation of Saleh Bin Saad Al-Murbe, the head of the Saudi Arabian General Directorate of Passports, Waheed engaged in extensive deliberations with Al-Murbe. Additionally, Waheed conferred with various other officials from the Saudi Arabian government.

According to Maldives Immigration, Waheed and his delegation gained valuable insights into the immigration processes of Saudi Arabia, encompassing visa issuance, border management, and skill development. The discussions centred on training opportunities for immigration officers, information exchange, and intelligence sharing, the agency reported.
