President Dr Mohamed Muizzu visited the University of Tartu during his official trip to Estonia, and explored potential collaborations in education, research, and training opportunities.
Upon arrive at the University, the President was warmly welcomed by Professor Toomas Asser, Rector of the University of Tartu. The President, accompanied by Professor Asser, toured the University, following which he signed the University's Visitors' Book.
The University of Tartu stands as one of Northern Europe's oldest and most prestigious institutions. This public research university, ranked among the top 1 percent globally in research, is known for its excellence in genomics, computer science and material sciences, and boasts modern facilities across multiple Estonian campuses.
During a meeting with Tartu University officials, President Dr Muizzu inquired about potential areas of collaboration with the University, including education, research, and training opportunities for Maldivian students, educators, and other professionals. Additionally, the discussions focused on exploring avenues of cooperation to utilise the university's research potential to enhance public services and digital infrastructure in the Maldives.
The President is currently on an official visit to Estonia at the invitation of Dr Alar Karis, President of Estonia. He is accompanied by a high-level delegation.
