A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Maldives and Estonia to enhance technological collaboration.
The MoU was signed on behalf of the Maldives government by Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihusaan, during President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s ongoing official visit to Estonia. Estonia’s Minister of Justice and Digital Affairs Liisa-Ly Pakosta signed on behalf of Estonia.
The agreement covers cooperation in the fields of information technology, artificial intelligence, smart technologies, and cyber security.
Estonia is one of the most advanced countries in the world in the field of technology. Renowned for its digital infrastructure, Estonia’s digital journey is a globally recognised effort. Today, the country is a global leader in digital governance and e-service.
The primary aim of the President’s visit is to discuss and seek assistance and cooperation to promote modern technology and innovative thinking in the Maldives.
President Muizzu has prioritised bringing about revolutionary changes to the Maldives in the digital sector, with a goal to ensure that 15 percent of the Maldives’ GDP is attributed to the digital field by 2030.
