Maldives Seeks Inspiration from Estonia’s Digital Healthcare Innovations

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has explored how the Maldives could adapt Estonia’s cutting-edge digital healthcare innovations to improve accessibility and quality of care across the nation.

As part of the President’s ongoing official visit to Estonia, the Estonian Minister of Health, Riina Sikkut, paid a courtesy call to President Muizzu. During their meeting, the discussions focused on sharing valuable insights and knowledge about Estonia’s journey in transforming its healthcare sector through digitalisation. The Estonian Health Minister highlighted the significant benefits it has brought to the public, such as improved efficiency, accessibility, and quality of care, while also addressing the challenges faced during the process and the solutions implemented to overcome them.

President Dr Muizzu expressed his keen interest in learning from Estonia’s expertise and adapting its successful strategies to enhance the Maldivian healthcare system. He emphasised the importance of providing the same level of high-quality healthcare across all islands, including remote areas, and explored how digital solutions could bridge gaps in service delivery.’

The meeting highlighted a shared commitment to further strengthening Maldives-Estonia relations in the healthcare sector.
