Parliamentary group leader of the ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), Ahmed Nihan Hussein Manik said accounts of the situation of terrorism in the country are being exaggerated by some opposition figures.
He made the statement on TVM’s Raaje Miadhu Programme.
Nihan said "even though the opposition currently united in their efforts to tarnish the image of the country, they will not remain united for long."
The opposition is exaggerating the situation of terrorism in the country to hinder economic progress and endanger our religious unity and sovereignty, he said.
Nihan also highlighted the ongoing infrastructural developments in the country and revealed the next major project would be the development of the Kulhudufushi Airport.
Speaking on the programme, MP for Kelaa Constituency Ali Arif reiterated Nihan’s comments and said the opposition coalition will break up soon .
