President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and Estonia’s Minister of Education and Research Ms Kristina Kallas have discussed strengthening cooperation in the education sector.
The discussions took place during a productive meeting between the two during President Muizzu’s ongoing official visit to Estonia, marking the first time a Maldivian Head of State has visited the country.
The discussions centered on fostering collaboration in the education sector, with both sides identifying opportunities for knowledge sharing, capacity building, and partnerships.
During the meeting, President Dr Muizzu praised Estonia’s world-class education system and innovative approaches to learning. He expressed interest in drawing inspiration from Estonia’s successes to enhance the Maldives’ education system.
Minister Kallas provided a comprehensive presentation on Estonia’s education system, showcasing its key features and groundbreaking practices. She also addressed the President’s queries and shared valuable insights into Estonia’s educational strategies.
President Muizzu also underscored the importance of expanding educational opportunities for Maldivian youth and explored the possibility of scholarships and other forms of support from Estonia for Maldivian students.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both nations to strengthen ties through education and innovation, laying the foundation for future cooperation.
