The Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO) has re-elected Abdulla Giyas Riyaz as its President for a second consecutive term.
MATATO held its Annual Meeting at Manhattan Business School, with the Minister of Tourism Ibrahim Faisal serving as the guest of honour. During the meeting, the association elected its board members for the upcoming term.
While Giyas was re-elected as the President, Vice Presidents Mohamed Khaleel and Mohamed Shaaz Waleed were also re-elected for their positions.
The MATATO board consists of ten members, including five elected members and five executive members.

Speaking at the meeting, President Giyas highlighted the association’s accomplishments over the past year, as well as the challenges it faced. He called on travel agents to collaborate more closely to produce greater success this year.
A event also featured a special video presentation on MATATO’s achievements in 2024. The activities planned under MATATO’s Student Interim Chapter were also announced.
As part of the ceremony, Minister Faisal inaugurated MATATO’s new website and logo.
Founded in 2006, MATATO has worked closely with the government and various international partners to develop the Maldives’ tourism industry over the past 18 years.
