President Resolves to Bypass Bureaucracy to Hear Will of the People

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on Thursday said his Administration is determined to find out the will of the people and serve them accordingly.

Addressing the residents of Dhevvadhoo, Gaafu Alifu Atoll, part of his three-day tour of the islands in Huvadhu Atoll, the President explained that his ongoing tour of all inhabited islands is to hear the concerns of the people firsthand.

President Muizzu pledged to step out of the President’s Office in the capital, personally visit all inhabited islands and serve according to the will and wishes of his people.

“I don’t want it to just be a system where people’s concerns come to me only in writing, filtered through all the bureaucracy. In addition to that, I want to come and learn and listen to the concerns of the people directly from them as I want to serve according to their will,” the President explained.

“It's because I want to find out the will of the people directly, and serve according to their will.”

The President also vowed to work as closely as possible with the people during his Administration.

Last year, President Muizzu had met with more than 190 local councils and visited dozens of islands.

Nine days into the new year, President Muizzu has already visited 10 islands across Huvadhu and Kaafu Atoll.

He has promised to visit and meet residents of more islands during the course of the year.
