Work progressed in Villingili Island of Gaaf Alif Atoll on Saturday to connect 3 new transformers to the electricity grid. The transformers were installed in a bid to solve the issue of power outages in the island.
Villingili Council President Niyaz Nizar said work on installing the transformers had been completed. He said that "work is progressing to connect the transformers to the existing power grid".
Electricity is provided to the island of 4000 people using 3 generator sets; one 800kW, a 400kW and a 360kW generator.
