State-owned utility company Fenaka Corporation Limited has expanded its water supply services in 21 additional islands along with sewerage systems in four more last year, the company has said.
Fenaka said it understood the need to establish and maintain essential services in the islands.
With that, it had undertaken special efforts to ensure uninterrupted services and expand its network during the past year, despite financial difficulties, the company said.
In that regard, Fenaka last year had added 21 more islands taking its network to 107 islands across the Maldives.
The company said it has more than 31,092 water connections, with fresh water production capacity of 10,661 tonnes per day. Last year, Fenaka had increased water production capacity in five islands by 564 tonnes per day.
