In the adverse weather conditions currently being experienced across Maldives, Male’ recorded the highest rainfall over the last 24 hours, with 162mm. As a result, large parts of Male’ were flooded, with water entering households and businesses, causing damage to property.

NDMA said the authority received over 400 calls for assistance, including requests for sandbags and other support measures. Following a rapid assessment, 35 households in need of assistance are being assisted, and those who require evacuation are being relocated, NDMA said.

According to the MET Office, the adverse weather conditions are attributed to a circulation currently affecting the Maldives region.
