President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated that 2025 will be a year when various development projects will commence across different parts of the country, economic prosperity will be restored, and general prosperity will begin to reach the entire nation. He made these remarks in his address to the Maldivian people, extending his good wishes and congratulations for the new year.
In his address, the President said while the world is seeing the light of a new year by the Grace of God, the Maldives is meeting this day with beacons of hope, of visions of development and Islamic brotherhood. The President extended his sincere best wishes and congratulations to all the people of the Maldives on the occasion of the New Year.
The President stated that Maldives is now aiming towards specific set goals. He noted that this development journey follows a clear roadmap drawn for migrating to the ranks of developed nations.
“The aim is to defend and ensure Maldives’ independence and nationality. The aim of ensuring housing for every Maldivian citizen. The aim of developing healthcare and basic services to modern standards. It is also the infrastructural development brought to different parts of the country. Constitutional amendments. An economy that can be expanded through diversification in different sectors. The clear roadmap that will lead us to migrate to the ranks of developed countries. This is the goal of the Maldives’ development journey today,” the President said.
The President said the year 2025 will be a year of implementation towards achieving this vision. He said that development projects will be launched across Maldives, resulting the restoration of economic prosperity and new opportunities for workers. This, in turn, will bring prosperity as a whole to the entire country, he said.
Noting that a new year presents an opportunity to set resolutions, the President said that these can be made at national, community and individual levels. He emphasised that the Government's resolution is to remain steadfast in serving the people day and night with sincerity, fulfilling promises, maintaining trust, and staying consistently close to the people to find permanent solutions to problems.
In his address, the President also encouraged the promotion of positive thinking and prioritising peace and reconciliation as individual resolutions for the new year. Emphasising that the foundation of development and contentment lies in peace, respect and affection, he appealed to every citizen to prioritise positive thinking to make the new year a year of development.
President Dr Muizzu concluded his new year's address by encouraging all to work together towards national development with a unified goal. He affirmed that 2025 will be a year of responsible nation-building for the future of the Maldivian people. He prayed to the All-Mighty to grant goodness and protect the Maldives as an independent country.
