Islamic Affairs Minister Unveils Ambitious Initiatives for 2025

Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has announced an array of substantial initiatives set to be rolled out in 2025, underscoring the ministry's commitment to enhancing community welfare and promoting Islamic values.

During an event to inaugurate the ministry's activities for the upcoming year, Minister Shaheem detailed several key programmes and initiatives. Among the notable announcements were the ministry's 2025 action plan, the 'Risalah' programme, and the 'Namaadhu Mathiverikurumuge Programme.' He also highlighted two major development projects: the construction of the Waqf Building and the commencement of a project to develop a Zakat House.

The 'Namaadhu Mathiverikurumuge Programme' aims to raise public awareness about the importance of prayer in Islam, encouraging timely daily prayers, according to Minister Shaheem. This initiative will include a series of sermons delivered by scholars who will visit local households, he revealed, adding that the programme will cover various topics, including Fiqh, the meanings of duas, and the names of Almighty Allah.

"The Namaadhu programme is thoughtfully crafted to emphasise the significance of prayer, imparting the meanings of the duas and elucidating the names of Almighty Allah as mentioned in the prayers," stated Minister Shaheem.

The ministry will also continue the 'Risaalah' programme, which was successfully carried out in 2024. According to Minister Shaheem, the 2025 edition will focus on instilling and promoting moral character, ethics, and manners—values central to the identity of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He went on to highlight the necessity for the community to uphold these values, including protecting the honour, dignity, and reputation of others.

"The essence of Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) identity is rooted in moral character, ethics, and manners, attributes that our community urgently needs. We must safeguard the honour, dignity, and reputation of others, as well as their property and lives," Minister Shaheem remarked.

At the ceremony, awards were presented to the winners of the English and Dhivehi categories of the 'Risaalah' programme 2024, which saw participation from 281 individuals. The 'Risaalah' programme, launched under Dr Mohamed Muizzu's administration, aims to promote Islamic guidance and foster a community that upholds religious values. Minister Shaheem also underscored the importance of the ministry’s action plan for 2025, reiterating the ministry's dedication to its mission.
