In a bid to produce environmentally friendly energy, STELCO has launched several initiatives this year to move towards renewable energy sources instead of burning fossil fuel.
As part of such initiatives, STELCO has set up a solar power system with a capacity of 11,000 kilowatts to its 47.7 megawatts main power station in Male’.
Additionally, STELCO has also launched various initiatives to diversify its business portfolio, with the opening of a specialised business centre to sell generators locally instead of importing them being a key highlight of the year.
The centre will facilitate the quick delivery of generators to the islands in the event of breakdowns, the company had said.
