The Maldives Expo 2025, scheduled for May next year, is set to be the largest exhibition in the country, offering local businesses a significant opportunity to attract foreign investments, according to Ibrahim Ziyau Mohamed, Managing Director of the Business Center Corporation (BCC).
The expo, organised under the Creative Economy initiatives of the BCC and the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, aims to showcase local products, encourage skill development, and promote the sustainability of local businesses.
The expo will be held in May next year and is open to individuals, island representatives, city representatives, registered businesses, educational institutions, NGOs, and persons with special needs. The event aims to promote and preserve traditional crafts, foster innovation, and support the local economy.
"This expo presents a significant opportunity for local businesses to attract foreign investments and broaden their market reach," said Mohamed in an interview with Dhivehi Raajjeyge Adu (DRA). The interview was part of a special programme commemorating the 62nd anniversary of the radio station.
Local businesses will have the chance to connect with foreign investors and larger businesses, with a focus on creative individuals and businesses showcasing their talents, according to Mohamed. Invitations will be sent to many countries, and foreign tourists and investors are expected to visit the expo, he added.
The initiative, held under the guidance of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, seeks to bolster the local economy and provide a platform for showcasing the diverse talents of the country. It is expected to be a landmark event, providing a platform for local businesses to thrive and connect with the international market. With the support of everyone from across the country, the expo aims to boost the local economy and showcase the diverse talents of the country, said Mohamed.
Local businesses and individuals can still register to participate in the expo. Registration categories include hand crafts, agriculture, fishing, transportation, construction, ICT, creative arts and design, fashion and design, jewellery and accessories, energy, food, machinery and equipment, woodworks, and linguistic creations.
